Pandanus

When I moved to a 20 acre property fifty minutes south of Darwin I was expecting many things but I was not prepared for the fires. In the dry season fires tear through huge sections of land, hungry red and eager orange, leaving blackened trees, cycads and pandanus. The dancing shape of the pandanus, black against the fire, struck me on a drive home one evening and I created this design.

A few weeks later a bright green forest floor was sprouting, giving rise to a second interpretation.
